hiraeth
The Summerhouse Gallery is pleased to present Hiraeth, a show by Jayne Elliott. Hiraeth is a Welsh word with no direct English translation, although there is a Cornish equivalent hireth which means ‘longing, yearning nostalgia and wistfulness, the essence of love of a place, memory or person’. Drawing on inspiration from her surroundings and memories of the first lockdown, Jayne has created a body of work which holds layers of multiple meanings with a poignant yet beautifully dream-like quality running throughout.
Hiraeth will open on May 12th with a private view from 6-8pm, and will run until May 26th.
